Santiago to Cochabamba

Chris Waye (a student who has come down to work and study in the ministry for six month) and I just returned home from two weeks of traveling. We were in Santiago, Chile for seven day visiting the ministry of Jason Holt, and then from there went over to Cochabamba, Bolivia for three days to see Kevin White and his ministry.

The travels were an experience in and of themselves, with “paros” (strikes) and closed roads causing much confusion and delay. It was definitely a test of my Spanish. Traveling through the Andes was awesome and the sights were beautiful, but what was even more amazing was the ministries that we got to see. God is blessing both of these men immensely.

It was awesome to see how God can use a normal guy to change eternity. The trip really encouraged me as we witnessed what God can do with a man who has surrendered himself to the will of his Father.

Some things I learned (or was reminded of) from this trip:

  • People are people no matter where you go. They may have a different culture, but they still experience the same problems and are in need of Jesus
  • All people are hard to reach.
  • The Gospel is the power, it changes lives, not men.
  • God can/will use anyone who wants to be used.
  • God blesses hard work.
  • Correct training makes a world of difference in how effective you will be.
  • South America needs more laborers.

Please remember both of these men and their ministries in your prayers, and also Chris Waye as he is seeking direction as to where the Lord would have him work.
